Dorothy "Dot" Jean (Woody) Newton

DOROTHY JEAN “DOT” WOODY NEWTON, age 94, of Roxboro, NC passed away Thursday night, January 30, 2025 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. 

Mrs. Newton was born May 8, 1930 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Clyde William Woody, Sr. & Sallie Lewis Crowder Woody and was wife of 44 years to the late Floyd Lee Newton, Sr.  She was retired from the banking industry and attended Bethel Hill Baptist Church.

Dot enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball, going to the coast, was an avid dog lover, and donated to numerous pet charities.   

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Woody Newton, Nancy Newton Armfield & husband, Marty, four grandchildren, Amy Newton, Megan Cassidy Rowley & husband, Nick, Taylor Lee Moran & husband, Zack, Sidney Lane Wright & husband, Stephen, four great-grandchildren, Ty Davis, Mason Moran, Noah Wright, and Maeve Rowley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Newton is preceded in death by a son, Floyd Lee Newton, Jr., sister, Mary Belle Woody, and brother, Clyde William Woody, Jr.

The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
