Clyde Franklin Kenion

CLYDE FRANKLIN KENION, SR.  age 87, of 250 Wiley Lunsford Road, Rougemont, NC passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 18, 2026 at Duke University Hospital.  Born April 2, 1938 in Orange Co., NC, son of the late Ralph Shaw Kenion & Sadie Pearl Turner Kenion and was husband of 42 years to the late Shirley Ann Clayton Kenion.  He was retired from the textile industry having worked for Burlington Industries and Crown Crafts, and attended Somerset Baptist Church.

Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing, bee keeping, trapping, raising a vegetable garden, and raising gamecocks.

Surviving are six children, Vickie Newman, Kelvin Walker, Eugene Kenion & wife, Sandy, Nina Kenion, Clyde Franklin Kenion, Jr. & wife, Crystal, and Lisa Kenion, nineteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Kenion is preceded in death by three children, Teresa Kenion, Larry Walker, Greg Walker, great-granddaughter, Breanna Walker, siblings, Joseph Elmer Kenion, Paul Williaqm Kenion, Benjamin Eugene Kenion, Harold Linwood Kenion, and Mildred Ruth Sayard.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Tom Gearhart officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Deyo, Scott-Alan Deyo, Tyler Roach, and Daniel Walker.
