Christopher Michael Nelson

CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL NELSON, age 38, of San Diego, CA died Monday, October 10, 2022.

Mr. Nelson was born March 7, 1984 in Durham County, NC, son of Howard Keith & Dorothy “Dotti” Kelly Nelson and was husband of nine years to Jessica Blanca Frenna all of whom survive.  He was employed with Peraton as an IT Technician, and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Upon graduation from Person High School in 2002 Chris attended East Carolina University where his received his Bachelor’s degree in Business and minor in Economics.  He was stationed on the USS Chosin in Pearl Harbor and became a recruiter for four years in Jacksonville, NC.  He received a Captain’s promotion to Petty Officer First Class and was later stationed in San Diego on the USS Lake Erie and recently received his Associates degree in Cyber Security.

Chris enjoyed watching the NFL, trips to the beach, playing soccer with his son, and being a member of the Boy Scouts.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are a son, Liam Jacob Nelson, sister, Tara Kelly Carmichael & husband, Clay, paternal grandmother, Mildred Day Nelson, niece, Anna Carmichael, nephew, Ace Pulliam, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mr. Nelson is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Howard “Deda” Nelson, and maternal grandparents, George Joseph Kelly & Catherine O’Neil Kelly.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Pulliam officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
