Charles "Bill" William Mangum

CHARLES WILLIAM “BILL” MANGUM, age 77, of 347 Bethany Church Road, Rougemont, NC passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2026 at his home. Born November 20, 1948 in Vance Co., NC, son of the late Bernice Cecil “B.C.” & Alice Irene Brockway Mangum and was husband of 29 years to Linda Powell Mangum who survives.  He was retired from Rand-Whitney, was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Bill enjoyed wood working, gardening, and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Mystie Mangum Gray & husband, Jody, Jodi Nicole Mangum, Ben Vaughan & wife, Kristin, Sandra Vaughan Martinez & husband, Tony, Amy Edlund, nine grandchildren, Alyssa Gray, Emily Gray, Christian Reyes, Gabriel Reyes & wife, Rachel, Joshua Yepez, Cole Vaughan, Tucker Vaughan, Liliana Edlund, Aryana Edlund, two great-grandchildren, Ezra Reyes, Ariah Reyes, three siblings, John Mangum & wife, Linda, Conley Mangum & wife, Betty Jean, and Jane Mangum.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mangum is preceded in death by a brother, Malcolm “Mac” Mangum.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Bowes officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests from 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
