Carolyn Ann (Roach) Carter

CAROLYN ANN ROACH CARTER, age 77, of 1413 Beacon Street, Roxboro, NC passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Carter was born November 3, 1946 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Lloyd Lee Roach & the late Nannie Laura Rowland Davis and was wife of 49 years to the late Billy Weldon Carter, Sr.  She was formerly employed with Tultex Mills and was of the Baptist faith.

Carolyn, also known as Grannie and Me-Maw, loved her family dearly and adored her four-legged baby, Hudson and spoiled him rotten.  She loved raising Doberman’s over the years and taking them for walks.  Carolyn loved being outside working in the yard and taking care of her flowers.  She always made sure her hummingbird feeder was full along with her bird baths. Most of the time you would catch her sitting in her favorite chair in the kitchen watching TV, smoking her Winston light 100’s and having a cup of black coffee. Her grandchildren would fight over her fudge and Mac-n-cheese!  She would never turn down a meal at Cracker Barrel or a stop at Krispy Kreme.  She loved taking trips to the beach and the mountains.  It was the simple things in life that made Carolyn most happy.

Surviving are two sons, Billy W. Carter, Jr. & wife, Morgan, of Roxboro, NC, Chad Carter & wife, Peggy of Baskerville, VA, five grandchildren, Zach Carter & wife, Morgan, Ethan Carter, Amanda Carter, Patrick Bradner, Joshua Bradner, three great-grandchildren, Emory Carter, Nathan Bradner, Damien Alexander, great-grandchild on the way, Tyler Carter, four-legged child, Hudson Carter, and best friend, like a sister, Magnolia Clayton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Tom Newman, and Stephanie Clayton Bowen officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Bowen, Joshua Bradner, Brian Clayton, Travis Johnson, Joel Riley, and Danny Vaughn.  Honorary paw bearer will be, Hudson Carter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, and Bobby Johnson.
