Cameron Wayne Short

CAMERON WAYNE SHORT age 22, of 1326 Halifax Road, Roxboro, NC, died Thursday night, October 6, 2022 at Duke University Hospital.

Mr. Short was born August 18, 2000 in Person County, NC son of Wayne Cleveland Short & Lisa Ann Ray Short, both of whom survive.  He worked in the manufacturing industry and was a member of Overflow Worship Center.

Cameron enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing drums, hunting, and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandmother, Shelia H. Long of the home, paternal grandfather, Levatis Short of Timberlake, NC, two brothers, Tony Martin Carr, Brandon Kenneth Cary both of Roxboro, NC, four sisters, Tiffany Felicia Carr of Winchester, VA, Aleshia Marie Short of Durham, NC, Shania Johnson of Roxboro, NC, Alania Belle of SC, special sister, Aerial Whitt of Roxboro, NC, step-father, Ivory Cary, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  

Mr. Short is preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandfather, Raybon “Papa” Long, and paternal grandmother, Mary Alice Short.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Chase Chambers officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 12:30 till 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.    

Pallbearers will be Alex Cary, Brandon Cary, Aaron Garnett, Ju’nike Torain, Nkosi White, and Joseph Yates.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Carr, and Wayne Short.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Overflow Worship Center, P.O. Box 1835, Roxboro, NC 27573.
