Calvin Dodson Powell

CALVIN DODSON POWELL, age 70, of 6542 Oak Hollow Drive, Snow Camp, NC died Monday morning, November 16, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Powell was born June 4, 1950 in Halifax County, VA, son of the late Calvin Coolidge Powell & Sallie Bet Hazelwood Powell who survives.  He worked many years building houses for Roxboro Builders and also worked as a roofer, plumber, and power plant maintenance, and was of the Pentecostal faith.  Calvin enjoyed watching Nascar, golfing, and grilling with his family & friends.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two children, Lisa Strouth & husband, Toney of Snow Camp, NC, Joey Harris ( Stephine King) of Roxboro, NC, six grandchildren, Matthew Strouth, Andrew Strouth, Shawn Strouth, Noah Harris, Carson Harris, Ryder Harris, ten great grandchildren, two brothers, Gary Powell & wife, Rene, Ronald Powell all of Roxboro, NC, two sisters, Vickie Harp & husband, Rodney of Wake Forest, NC, and Lupino Wesley & husband, Curtis of Roxboro, NC. 

In addition to his father, Mr. Powell is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Powell, and sister, Danet Irby.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Bishop Curtis Wesley and the Rev. Rodney Harp officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 12:30 pm till 2:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2020 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Gaddy, Chris Madren, Ronnie Powell, Andrew Strouth, Matthew Strouth, and Shawn Strouth.
