"Buck" Charles Clayton Obituary

CHARLES LINWOOD “BUCK” CLAYTON, age 77, of 322 Tonker Drive, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, January 31, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.

 

Mr. Clayton was born June 10, 1944 in Person County, NC, son of the late Early David & Lonnie Beth Wrenn Clayton and was husband of 59 years to Frances Dee Morris Clayton who survives. He was a retired lineman for Carolina Power and Light after 29 years of service, was a member of Grace Ca-vel United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

Mr. Clayton enjoyed mowing grass, bowling, fishing, shagging, Christmas with family, spending time at his beach house, and spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter.  

 

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Linwood Scott Clayton & wife, Lori, Amber C. Seamons and husband, Ricky, Beth Clayton & partner, Laurie Rocheleau, two grandchildren, Cody Tilley & wife, Megan, Courtney Rice & husband, David, great granddaughter, Tinsley Rice, two sisters, Linda Long & husband, Rollie D., Peggy Dixon & husband, Wayne, brother-in-law, Elwood Holt, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Clayton is preceded in death by siblings, Adele Oakley, Minnie Oakley, Alma Harris, Otie Clayton, Mildred Sparks, Alice Morris, Sam Clayton, Doris Wilkins, Earliteen Oakley, Betty Holt, Eva Crabtree, and John Lawrence Clayton.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown and Rev. Darcy Knight officiating. Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

 

Pallbearers will be Robert Carver, Ronnie Leonard, Jacob Phelps, Bobby Oakley, Robert Rimmer, Jordan Tingen, and Ted Wright.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Clayton, and Austin Tingen.

 

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380, or to the Person County Senior Center, P.O. Box 764, Roxboro, NC 27573.
