Brenda Gail (Oakley) Saunders

BRENDA GAIL OAKLEY SAUNDERS, age 63, of 6071 Dirgie Mine Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, December 24, 2020 at the Hock Family Pavilion.

Mrs. Saunders was born February 5, 1957 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Thomas Daniel Oakley, Sr. & Hazel Poole Oakley Wrenn who survives and was wife of 33 years to Charles Lacy “Buck” Saunders who also survives.  She was retired from Roxboro MedPeds and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.  Brenda enjoyed sewing, reading, and tending her flower and vegetable gardens.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are a daughter, Jennifer Gail Claiborne of Raleigh, NC, granddaughter, Mona Tamer Mohamed of Oxford, NC, sister, Ann Warren & husband, Earl of Roxboro, NC, two brothers, Danny Oakley & wife, Nancy of Ringgold, VA, Robert Oakley of Roxboro, NC, step-sister, Duck Wrenn of Roxboro, NC, and step-brother, Wayne Wrenn & wife, Sherry of Hurdle Mills, NC. 

In addition to her father, Mrs. Saunders is preceded in death by a step-sister, Melinda Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Cline officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Jones, Kirk Jones, Gary Royster, Jonathan Toone, Wesley Toone, and Preston Warren.  Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Slagel, and Linwood Winstead.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 North Roxboro Road, Durham, NC 27704.
