BILLY LINWOOD LONG, SR., age 85, of 177 Wildflower Lane, Roxboro, NC passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Long was born January 26, 1938 in Person County, NC, son of the late John Rupert & Maggie Lucille Saunders Long and was husband of 46 years to the late Devona Ann Clayton Long. He was retired from Royal Home Fashions, was a veteran of the Army National Guard, and was of the Baptist faith.
Billy enjoyed playing golf, working, and tinkering on things.
Surviving are two children, Billy Linwood “Linn” Long, Jr. & wife, Amy of Roxboro, NC, Debbie Riley & husband, Andy of Hurdle Mills, NC, three grandchildren, Jessica Shull & husband, Ashley, Melissa Greer & husband, Scott, Andy Riley, Jr. & wife, Stephanie, eight great-grandchildren, Hudson Shull, Dawson Shull, Ashlyn Riley, Tristan Riley, Izzy Riley, Paige Sharpe, Meredith Greer, Nathan Greer, great-great grandchild, Eugene Sharpe, two brothers, Allen “Snook” Long & wife, Carol, and Danny D. Long.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Long is preceded in death by brothers, Melvin Merritt Long, Randy Lynn Long, and sister, Frances Long West.
The family will receive friends and guests from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at the home.
