Billy Jack Lassiter

BILLY JACK LASSITER, age 69, of Roxboro, NC passed away Friday morning May 30, 2025 at his home.  He was born Edward Thelbert Lassiter on June 6, 1955 son of the late Linwood Lassiter & Virgie Elizabeth Wood Sparks and was husband of nearly 46 years to Patricia Ann “Lovie” Frazier Lassiter who survives.  He changed his name to Billy Jack after watching the Billy Jack movies back in the early 70’s.

He always thought it was his job to help people smile.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Lovie, writing, reading, art, movies, playing with his fur baby, Stan Lee Lassiter.  Yes, he gave his cats full names.

He worked security for the EPA for 20+ years, served in the US Army as a Private & E2 in the National Guard, and worked at Troxler Electronic Labs for 7+ years making Zensometers.

He helped build the first Smithfield Chicken & BBQ in Smithfield, NC and it has always been one of his favorite places to eat.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Caleb Daniel Lassiter (Madalyn), daughter, Elizabeth Ann Pulley (Danny), granddaughter, Ovia McGowan, great-granddaughter, Skyler McGowan, grandson, Ernest Herron Jr., brother, Preston Page (Barbara), sister, Debbie Barbour (Lyn).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lassiter is preceded in death by his step-father, James Sparks.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel.
