"Bill" William Graham Oakley

WILLIAM GRAHAM “BILL” OAKLEY, age 75, of Roxboro, NC died Monday evening, December 23, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Mr. Oakley was born April 15, 1944 in Person County, NC, son of the late John William Oakley, Jr. & Thelma Duncan Oakley.  He was retired as a self-employed carpenter, was of the Baptist faith, and was a veteran of the US Army.

Surviving are his special companion, Theresia C. Woods of the home, two brothers, Mickie Oakley, Johnny Oakley & wife, Marilyn, three sisters, Sandra O. Solomon, Susan O. Hair & husband, Steve, Patsy O. Gentry & husband, Bill all of Roxboro, NC, sister-in-law, Paula S. Oakley, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Oakley is preceded in death by two brothers, twin boy Oakley, and Randall B. Oakley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in the Calvin Lester Oakley Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at the home of Johnny & Marilyn Oakley, 932 City Lake Road, Roxboro, NC.  

Pallbearers will be Craig Bradley, Perry Duncan, Jimmy Ray Long, Brian Whitfield, Corey Whitfield, and Robbie Whitfield, III.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Duncan, William Gentry, Matt Porterfield, Michael Wilcox, and Troy Woods.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
