Betty Jane (Powell) Bowling

BETTY JANE POWELL BOWLING, age 76, of 136 Bowling Road, Roxboro, NC died Saturday evening, August 7,2021 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bowling was born on July 7, 1945 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Louis Gordan Powell Sr. and the late Ella Lee Snead Powell. She was retired from Longhurst Cotton Mills after 30 plus years of service and was a member of Montwood Baptist Church.   

Surviving are three daughters, Jackie Allen & husband, Clyde of Silver Springs, MD., Donna Snipes & husband Joel of Roxboro, NC, and Marie Farrar & husband Jimmy of Winston Salem, NC., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Kathleen Shotwell & husband Walter of Burlington, NC, three brothers, Lewis Powell Jr of Roxboro NC, James Powell & wife Mary of Virgilina, VA, and William “PeeWee” Powell of Roxboro, NC. 

Mrs. Bowling was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Powell.

A Graveside Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, 5208 Falkland Road, Scottsburg, VA 24589 with the Rev. Ken Warfield officiating.
