Arthur Snead

DOUGLAS McARTHUR “ARTHUR” SNEAD age 76, of 133 Erroll Court, Leasburg, NC died Tuesday morning, April 2, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Snead was born January 29, 1943 in Halifax County, VA son of the late Willie Newman & Florence Inez Clack Snead and was husband of nearly 30 years to Tammy Clark Snead who survives.  He was a real estate broker for Pointer and Associates, former manager of Byrd’s Grocery Store, former owner/operator of Town & Country Supermarket, and a member of Longhurst United Methodist Church.

Arthur loved his job (because it led him to be with other people which he enjoyed), watching sports on television, Hyco Lake, and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joey Carver Snead & wife, Leigh Anne of Burlington, NC, Kevin Douglas Snead of Roxboro, NC, mother-in-law, Dorothy Gill Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Snead is preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Young Snead, two sisters, Betty S. McFarland, Margaret S. Hughes, and his previous wife, Linda Jo Puryear.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Billy Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends and guests Thursday from 1:00 till 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
