DAVID CLARK RAMSEY, age 57, of Person County NC, died surrounded by family, Monday morning, July 29th, at his girlfriend’s home in Pompano Beach, Florida. Mr. Ramsey was born August 12th, 1961 in Durham, NC, son of the late James E. Ramsey, and the late Eunice S. Ramsey. He worked for many years at several banks in Person County. He later worked in the car industry, with his final job at Cal-Tex doing what he loved, high-end detailing of automobiles.
Of his many interests over the years, David was an avid competition shooter, competition practitioner of Tae-Kwon-Do, cyclist, scuba diver, and professional car detailer.
Among his other accomplishments, David was instrumental in both the first years of the fireworks display in Roxboro, NC, and in the founding of the Person County chapter of Relay for Life. He spent many years as a member of the Saints Mary & Edward Catholic Church in Roxboro.
David was a gifted storyteller, comedian, friend, and father. Those who remember him often remember his ability to make anyone laugh, and his bearing of life’s burdens with a grin and a joke.
David is survived by his girlfriend, Laurie Cagnon, two sons, Alex and Adam Ramsey, brother, Carl Ramsey and wife Jodie, sister, Linda Ramsey, nephews, John and Michael Ramsey, and nieces, Stacy and Jordan Ramsey, and Lisa Sanders.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramsey is preceded in death by a brother, Frank T. Ramsey, niece, Erin Ramsey, and uncle, Robert T. Ramsey.
David’s family would like to extend special thanks to his Cal-Tex family for all of the love, support and understanding that they provided to David over the past few years. Your care for David means the world to us, and we certainly know how much he meant to you.
We would like to also extend a thank you to all of his friends who have reached out both to David and to the family over these past months. Your support has been a beacon of light in dark times.
